Ed’s Spiced Crackers

Date

The easiest way to make these crackers is to purchase the mix.  If you go to Amazon and type in ‘Savory party crackers mix’ you will see the mix Ed used.  If you wish, it can be recreated to a degree following the recipe below.  It’s very similar.

1 2/3 cups canola oil

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

½ tsp cayenne pepper (if you don’t like the heat, you can use black pepper)

2 (1 oz) envelopes ranch dressing mix

1 box (4 sleeves) saltine crackers

Mix all ingredients and put in a 2 gallon (I only had a 2 ½ gallon) ziplock bag.  Add the crackers.  Seal and turn to coat the crackers.  Turn bag over every 5 minutes to coat evenly (about 4 times).  Let sit overnight in the bag.  They’ll be ready in the morning!

EVEN BETTER THAN THAT:

Three sleeves of Saltines stacked upright in a container.

Then in a small bowl mix together the following ingredients.

3/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 TBLS steak seasoning (I used Traeger prime rib rub)
1/2 TBLS red pepper flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
3/4 teaspoons Cayenne
